Nagpur, Nov 24 (UNI) Sri Lanka were 47/2 at Lunch on day one of the second Test, in the first session at the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) stadium here on Friday.
Earlier, in the morning the visitors won the toss and opted to bat first.
The Sri Lankan batsmen played defensive during the first session as track had good bounce but lacked green top which was evident at the Eden Gardens in the first Test.
Sri Lanka lost early wicket of S Samarawickrama in the 5th over after being caught off by Pujara in Ishant Sharma's bowl.
Samarawickrama scored 13 off 15 hitting one four while Thirimanne scored 9 off 58.
However, in the 21st over, Sri Lanka were lucky after Karunaratne's catch was dropped by Pujara at mid-on in Ashwin's spell.
In the 25th over Ashwin took wicket of Thirimanne.
For India, it was Ishant and Ashwin taking one wickets each.
At the break, Karunaratne and Angelo Mathews were at the crease at score of 21 and 1.
