Dalit Lynching : Kerala govt announces Rs 10 lk compensation

Thiruvananthapuram/Palakkad, Feb 24 (UNI) Kerala government on Saturday announced Rs 10 lakh compensation to the bereaved family of Dalit youth Madhu, who was lynched to death by a 15-member gang in Attappady on Thursday evening.
A direction in this regard was given to the Chief Secretary by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, according to official sources here.
Meanwhile, State SC/ST Minister AK Balan told newspersons that stern action will be taken against those involved in the heinous act. It was also believed that a few forest department officials helped the group to trace the Adivasi youth in the forest, where he used to stay.
