Thiruvananthapuam, Jan 3 (UNI) Around 141 Kerala fishermen were found missing in the aftermath of cyclone Ockhi, which devastated the lives of people in coastal areas of the state, official sources said on Wednesday.
About 216 fishermen, including 75 from other states are missing, said the sources. However, the Latin Archdiocese refuted it, claiming that a total of 298 fishermen, including 149 from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu, have not returned to their homes after the disaster.
The Latin diocese also said that as many as 100 fishermen from Tamil Nadu ventured into the sea from Kerala coast.
It was reported that 33 unclaimed bodies were kept in various mortuaries of the state. Three bodies were identified through DNA test on Wednesday in Kozhikode Medical College.
