Curfew-like restrictions lifted in Srinagar

Srinagar, Feb 12 (UNI) Curfew-like restrictions in major areas of downtown and Shehar-e-Khas (SeK), imposed yesterday to thwart any possible protests on the death anniversary of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) founder Mohammad Maqbool Bhat, have been lifted.
Restrictions were forced following strike calls by separatist organizations, including both the factions of the Hurriyat Conference (HC) and JKLF, as it was on this day in 1984, that Bhat was hanged and later buried in Delhiā€™s Tihar jail.
The limitations in Trehgam, the home town of Bhat and some areas in the frontier district of Kupwara in north Kashmir were also lifted.
