Court directs enquiry into the pathetic condition of Chapra Jail

Patna Dec 6 (UNI) Patna High Court today directed to constitute a three member commission to inquire into the pathetic condition of Chapra Jail.

While hearing a Public Interest Litigation Petition (PIL) of Pramod Kumar Singh on the matter related to the dismal scenario of Chapra jail, a division bench of the court of Justice Mr Sanjay Karol asked the commission to submit its inquiry report by December 10.
Through the PIL, the court was appraised with the condition of Chapra jail. The PIL stated that the jail had no basic facility and was housing prisoners more than its capacity due to which the situation was grim inside the jail.

Meanwhile, an advocate Satya Bharti, one of the members of the three member commission, said here that the commission would soon visit the jail to inquire into its condition.

The matter would be heard again on December 10.
