New Delhi, Apr 10 (UNI) Reacting to the incident of firing at a polling station in Coochbehar district in West Bengal, the sources in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Saturday said that Force security personnel were attacked by the mob and the security personnel opened fire in retaliation.
They also said that the first attack on the CISF personnel was made around 0940 hrs which was dispersed but an hour later the booth was again attacked and the Force personnel resorted to firing.
Another source in the security set up in Bengal said that CCTV footage and other video recording of the poll process will be shared with Election Commission.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee alleged that CRPF has shot dead four people while addressing a public rally in Hingalganj in West Bengal.
The CRPF immediately made a clarification that its personnel were not deployed at the polling booth.
The Election Commission ordered adjourning the poll in Polling Station 126 of Sitalkurchi Assembly Constituency following an interim report from Special Observers. Detailed reports have been sought from them and Chief Electoral Officer by the evening on Saturday.
The firing incident took place on Saturday, killing four civilian outside booth number 126 at Jorpataki in Sitalkuchi Assembly Constituency, in Cooch Bihar, in West Bengal during the fourth phase of State Assembly elections.
