New Delhi, Oct 13 (UNI) With the stage set for election battle with the BJP in Himachal Pradesh, Congress President Sonia Gandhi today set up a screening committee for selection of candidates. The Election Commission on Thursday announced that polls for the 68-member Assembly of the hill state would take place on November 9. The chairman of the Congress screening committee will be former MP Jitendra Singh, while MP Gaurav Gogoi and MLA Vijay Inder Singla have been nominated as its members. Meanwhile, electioneering is in full swing in the hill state. The ruling Congress had won 36 out of the 68 in the last elections. The BJP had bagged 26 seats. The vote share of the Congress was 42.81 and of the BJP 38.47 per cent. UNI NAZ SNU 1325
