Entertainment » OtherPosted at: Aug 30 2016 5:14PM CM, Congress legislators to give away free ricePuducherry, Aug 30 (UNI) Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy today announced in the Assembly that he and Congress legislators will not collect the monthly free rice from Fair Price Shops. Welfare Minister Kandasamy said that the administration is providing 20 kilograms of free rice to all ration card holders from this month onwards costing the exchequer an amount of Rs 213.84 crore a year. The Minister further said that while launching the scheme itself, he had stated that he will not collect free rice and exhorted wealthy people to give up the same. Refuting the claim of Mr.Anbazhagan that those who came to take part in the tender for the supply of rice was threatened and one firm from Andhra Pradesh had lodged a complaint with the Chief Minister, PWD Minister Namasivayam, said that eight persons had participated in the tender which was finally given to FCI to provide rice at the rate of Rs.25.34 per kilogram.Please log in to get detailed story.Tags: #CM# Congress legislators to give away free rice
