Amaravati, Sep 13 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy assured Ace shuttler P V Sindhu to allocate five acres of land in Visakhapatnam to establish a badminton academy, especially for girls.
Sindhu called on Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan and Mr Reddy here on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that he felt happy to felicitate the professional Badminton player.
Sindhu, along with her parents P V Ramana and Lakshmi, met the Chief Minister in Secretariat.
Mr Reddy congratulated and felicitated her for winning gold at the BWF World Championships.
She thanked the Chief Minister and shown him the gold medal.
Minister for Tourism Muttamshetti Srinivasa Rao, Official Language Commission Chairman Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad and SAAP officials were present.
Later talking to media, Sindhu said that Chief Minister promised her to allocate five acres of land in Visakhapatnam to establish a badminton academy especially for girls.
She said that she got information that her name was recommended for Padma Bhushan but she had not received any official confirmation in this regard.
Mr Srinivasa Rao said that P V Sindhu came to Andhra Pradesh for the first time after winning the World Championships.
The Chief Minister congratulated her and wished that she would win the gold medal in the Olympic Games, the Minister said, adding Mr Reddy also assured to extend any kind of help to her, Mr Rao said.
