Citizens form human chain demanding metro 2b, 4 and 6 to go underground

Thane, Dec 7 (UNI) About a hundred citizens from different parts of the city on Saturday gathered at the visarjan point with banners and placards to demand metro 2b, 4 and 6 to go underground.

Their demand was in view of the environmental damage caused by the elevated Metros, the traffic chaos as a result of the construction, and the felling of trees and consumption of motorable roads throughout the city.
They demanded the state government and MMRDA, reconsider the plan of all Mumbai Metro lines to be underground ones, just as the Metro 3 line is.
After a peaceful assembly, a spokesperson for the citizens informed the press that they plan to approach the Honourable Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, with a letter setting out the citizens demands.
The movement has picked up the momentum after the government changed and the citizens plan to keep up the pressure for a dialogue.
The peaceful chain also created awareness about the violations made by MMRDA including, public hearing discrepancies and sanctions for tree cutting. There was a signature campaign organised as well.
