Cigarettes worth Rs 41 lakh seized in Nanded

Nanded, Feb 21 (UNI) The Local Crime Branch of police have confiscated stock of illegally stored imported cigarettes worth Rs 41.47 lakh in Old Mondha locality. Acting on reliable information, police confiscated the stock of cigarettes worth Rs 41.47 lakh from a shop and its nearby godown in Old Mondha late on Thursday evening.
The imported cigarettes did not bear the statutory warning on the packets.
A case under sections 7(3) and 20(2) of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply, and Distribution) Act, (COTPA) was filed against the concerned persons, police said.
