Chandigarh to host Sr National Gymnastics

Chandigarh, Feb 15 (UNI) The Chandigarh Gymnastics Association is organising the 55th Senior Artistic Gymnastics National Championship and 24th Rhythmic Gymnastics National Championship (Men and Women) 2017-2018 from 16th Feb to 18th Feb 2018 at Sports Complex Sector 78, SAS Nagar, Mohali, Punjab.
The 3 days Gymnastics Competition sets a stage for players from across the nation to prove their mettle. In addition to that, the points accrued here would also help them reserve a birth in the Indian Team participating in International Event.

According to Major Deepak Chaudhary, President Chandigarh Gymnastics Association teams from 24 states along with railway board have confirmed their entries for participation. Lt Gen(Retd) B K N Chibber former Governor of Punjab has agreed to be the Chief Guest at the mega event. The other Guest of honour who have agreed to grace the occasion include Ms Deepa Karmakar from Tripura who secured 4th position in vaulting table event in Rio Olympics 2016 and Mr Ashish kumar of Railways who secured 2nd position in the Asian Games 2017 and 3rd Position in Common wealth Games 2017.
According to Dr Satpal Kaur, organising secretary of the association, Dronacharya Awardee Devinder Kumar Rathore, Ms Prabhjot Bajwa eight- time Senior National champion and member Indian team in the Commonwealth Games 2014, Ms Palak Kaur and Mitali will participate in this prestigious championship.
Arjuna Awardee Ms Kirpali Patel and Ms Kalpana along with Neetu Bala, Savita Marathi and Mandar will judge the competitions. Mr. Inderjit Singh assisted by Mr. Kulwinder Singh will be the Director of the competition.
According to Dr Sharad Indu Sharma, the Punjab Sports Department has provided International Gymnastic Hall with equipments of latest specifications of International Standards for hosting this mega event. The lodging arrangement have been provided by Shadeed Kanshi Ram College of Education , Bhagoo Majra, Kharar.
