Agartala, Jun 15 (UNI) Tripura government was asked to set priority for implementation
of three key schemes - Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-Kisan), PM
Kisan Pension Scheme for small and marginal farmers and cover all the farmers with
Kisan Credit Card (KCC), said Agriculture and Farmers Welfare minister Pranajit Singha
Roy here today.
He said this is for the first time, Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare minister
Narendra Singh Tomar assured the state governments during video conference two days
ago that the central government would going to hold meeting with the commercial banks
for time bound disposal of the credit request of the farmers.
“It is found that farmers having KCC after applying for loan have not been given the
response by the banks most of the time and even if they response it’s too late. As a
result, farmers could not produce as much they expected. Now central government
planning to provide debit card against each KCC and issued mandatory compliance
for the banks to disburse the credit within 15 days after receiving proper application
and farmers need not go to bank for taking money. By using debit card the amount
can be pulled out from anywhere,” Singha Roy stated.
He said, PM-Kisan started in December last year and so far in two installments
amounting of Rs 60.43 Cr was credited to 1.51 lakh farmers out of the total 4.72
lakh in the state.
