Kolkata, Jan 2 (UNI) Central Railway emerged Champion in the 39th All India Railway Women’s Hockey Championship while South Eastern Railway bagged Runners Up Title.
Nikki Pradhan of South Eastern Railway was declared as the Best Player of the Tournament.
The six-day tournament was held at Astro Turf Ground, Hatia, Ranchi from December 28 to
January 2. The tournament was organised by South Eastern Railway Sports Association
(SERSA).
In the final match held today, Central Railway defeated South Eastern Railway 4-0 to win
the title. Western Railway and Nothern Railway secured 3rd and 4th position respectively.
Former Team India captain M S Dhoni attended the ground and witnessed the spectacular
Final Match.
Dhoni and General Manager of South Eastern Railway S N Agrawal gave away Trophies to
the Winner and Runners Up Team.
Altogether 9 Zonal Railways and Production Units such as South Eastern Railway, Northern Railway, Chittaranjan Locomotive Works, East Central Railway, Central Railway, Western Railway, North Eastern Railway, Rail Coach Factory (RCF) and North Central Railway participated in the 6-day Meet.
As many as 200 Women Hockey Players with National and International repute were seen in
the action
