Calicut to host all India inter varsity football tourney

Kozhikode, Oct 27 (UNI) The All India inter-varsity and South India Inter Varsity football Tournaments will begin at Calicut University from December 21.

The South India inter-varsity tournament will be held from December 21 to 29 and All India Inter Varsity Tournament from December 31 to January 5, organisers told reporters here today.

First round matches in South India event would be held at Calicut Varsity stadium, Farook Colleges, St Joseph College, Devagiri, EMEA College, Kondotty grounds.

Competitions in last rounds and all India inter varsity encounters would be conducted in two grounds of Calicut Varsity.

Al together 85 varsities would vie for honours in South India event and 16 winners of the four zones (South, West, East and North) in the all India competitions, they said.

As many as 1,800 players and 300 officials are expected to participate in the event sponsored by the Association of Indian Universities, they added.
