New Delhi, Sep 19 (UNI) One Border Security Force trooper was martyred in unprovoked cross border firing by Pakistan at Ramgarh sector in Jammu International Border on Tuesday, the BSF said here on Wednesday.
On September 18, around 1040 hrs, Pakistan soldiers started unprovoked firing on a BSF party which went ahead of fence for clearing elephant grass (Sarkanda). Such tactical patrol is routinely sent to clear the wild vegetation for a clear field view along the International Boundary.
The area also holds importance as the Pakistan side has a protective bundh close to International Boundary.
