Kochi, Oct 7(UNI) Powerhouse Brazil shattered the dream of Spanish to gain full points by handing out a 2-1 defeat in the in the Group D league match of the FIFA U-17 world Cup at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium here on Saturday. Though the Spanish team had gained an early lead in the fifth minute, through a self-goal, the Brazil team retaliated and pumped in two goals to stamp their authority and gained the three points in the opening math in group D. Linoln in the 25th minute and Pauliho in the 45th minute scored for the winners, while another Brazilian player Wesley awarded a self goal to Spain in the very fifth minute. Spanish guys entered the fray with the determination to avenge their defeat in the final of the 2003 edition of the FIFA U-17 and somehow they succeeded in their mission during the first 15 minutes. But later it was found the game was slipped from their hand and even failed to guard the defence, which ultimately paved their opponents to pump in two goals in the first half. It was the failure of defenders of Spanish team paved the way for an easy win to the Brazil.

Spain had showed their intention right from kick off and dominated the proceedings in the first fifteen minutes indicating ha that nothing less than a victory was not on their mind. Their hard work and better coordination paid them dividend through a self goal by Brazil player Wesley within five minutes to the game. The Brazil defender could not avoid finding the back of his own net after Ferran Torres delivered a dangerous low cross from the right that nearly picked out his team-mate Mohamed Moukhliss at the far post. But the joy did not last long as the much experienced Brazil, slowly took control of the game and rest of the match was confined in the defence area of Spain. Instead of tightening the defence, it was found the Spaniards taking the game without much serious and committed many serious lapses in guarding their fort even the rival attackers were freely moving their private zone. Capitalising on one such occasion, the three time champions capitalised the opportunity well, and brought the parity through Lincolin, with an accurate shot, outwitting the custodian Alvero Fernandez. It was not the brilliance of the Brazil to get the equaliser, but the defensive lapses on the part of the Spanish made things easy for the winners. Even without learning lesion from their earlier defence lapses, the Spanish continued the same error in the remaining time as well, resulting the second goal just seconds before the lemon break through their hard working forward Paulinho (2-1). In a brilliant move number seven Paulinho latched onto Marcos Anonio’s fie through ball before beating Spanish custodian Alvaro Fernandez with a rising finish. During the 90 minutes play, the Brazil dominated and 64 per cent of the game they possessed the control of the game. Though The Spain had struggled hard to bring equaliser and even earned 11 corners, ten of them in the second half, none of them could be converted to goal.

Though the football pundits had stated that the fight between Brazil and Spain would be one of most excited matches in the Group +D+ and it would be a replica of 2003 final of the FIFA U-17, there could not be any spirit or worth full moves from either side. Even the authorities had brought down the seats capacity to 29000 stating security reasons that led to turnout in most matches to just 21362. Brazil will take on Neiger, while Spain will take on Korea in their next league match on October 10.
