New Delhi, Oct 18 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday said it will consider the facts and circumstances of the Bofors scam, as per the claims of private detective Michael Hershman. In an interview to private news channel, Michael Hershman of the private investigation group Fairfax Group had alleged that the government led by the late Congress leader Rajiv Gandhi created obstruction in his investigation. The CBI has learnt of the matter pertaining to Bofors aired on a certain TV Channel containing interview of Mr Michael Hershman, CBI spokesperson Abhishek Dayal said in a statement. 'Facts and circumstances as mentioned in the interview will be looked into as per due process by the CBI,' Mr Dayal said. Earlier on Tuesday, Michael Hershman in a sensational interview to Republic TV said that there are powerful politicians in India who risk being identified in Bofors. He also said that in future if he is ever asked by the Indian Government to testify before an agency, a commission or a court of law regarding the findings of the Bofors deal, he will willingly do it. In the year 1986, the Bofors deal was signed between the then Rajiv Gandhi-led government and the Swedish company Bofors. In the same year, in March, the deal for 410 Howitzer field guns was completed. Around the same time in 1986, the then Finance Minister, VP Singh ordered an investigation following reports of some wrong doings in the deal. To do so, he got in touch with a private investigation group, Fairfax. Michael Hershman, who first found Bofors papers, was the secret investigator of the Fairfax Group. UN NY SHK 1920
