BMSM issues legal notice to Rajinikanth

Chennai, May 13 (UNI) Bharatiya Minorities Suraksha Mahasangh (BMSM) has issued a legal notice to Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth not to depict late Haji Mastan Mirza as 'smuggler or underworld' in his next film that would go on floors on May 28. In the notice issued by Mahasangh National President Sundar Shaekhar, who is also the foster son of Haji Mastan Mirza, he said he came to know through newspapers and media that Rajinikanth along with Director Pa.Ranjith were making a film on his Godfather Late Haji Mastan Mirza's life line or biopic. 'Depicting his Godfather as a 'smuggler and underworld don' is highly unacceptable and I strongly oppose such misrepresentation', he added. He said Haji Mastan Mirza was never convicted by any Court of Law in India in any case of smuggling or any case related to the underworld. 'Representing or calling Haji Mastan Mirza as smuggler and underworld don are highly defamatory', Shaekhar said in his notice. He warned of legal proceedings if Rajiniknath make any attempt to produce any such film by misrepresenting him as smuggler or underworld don. When contacted by media, Sundar Shaekhar, however, denied the allegations that he had issued a threat to the actor. However, he confirmed sending a notice to Rajini. He said he has asked the actor not to depict Haji Mastan Mirza as a 'smuggler or an underworld don' in the movie. 'If you are really interested in making a film on him, approach me and I will provide you his real life story', Sundar said. Stating that he wants to bankroll a movie on his father, he said 'I am a Producer and registered with Indian Motion Picture Producers Association. I am contemplating to produce it on my own'. The movie which would be produced by Dhanush's Wunderbar Films was expected to go on floors on May 28 near Chennai, where a huge set resembling the Mumbai Dharavi slums was erected. Meanwhile, the BJP assured that would it stand behind the actor if he was really intimidated, 'We will stand behind the actor in case he was really intimidated', BJP State unit President Ms Tamizhisai Soundararajan said. Talking to reporters, she said 'if it (threat) is true, we strongly condemn it. Our party will be behind him in this issue and we extend our support to him'. UNI GV CS 1655
