BJP wins both seats of Tripura in huge margin

Agartala, May 24 (UNI) The BJP swept both the seats of Tripura defeating their nearest rival of congress candidates in the Loksabha elections.
Significantly, congress tally in East Tripura tribal reserved seat has gone up to 26.58 per cent and vote share of CPI (M) reduced to 17.36 per cent in the final counts.
In East Tripura, BJP candidate Rebati Tripura defeated his rival of congress party Maharajkumari Pragya Deb Burman, the elder sister of royal scion and Tripura Pradesh congress chief Pradyot Kishore Dev Burman by a margin of 2,03,117 votes.
Rebati secured 4,79,634 and Pragya got 2,76,517 while sitting MP of CPI (M) Jitendra Chaudhury only 2,00,497 votes and IPFT candidate, Revenue Minister of the state government N C Debbarma got only 45,153 votes.
Meanwhile, in West Tripura parliamentary constituency BJP candidate and party’s general secretary Pratima Bhowmik defeated her nearest rival of congress Subal Bhowmik by a margin of 3,03,746 votes.
Pratima got 5,70,021 votes and Subal got 2,66,275 votes in the final tally.
However, sitting CPI (M) MP Shankar Prasad Datta obtained only 1,71,175 votes and IPFT candidate and sitting MLA Brishketu Debbarma got 43,764 votes.
