New Delhi, Jan 20 (UNI) New BJP chief J P Nadda on Monday said under his leadership the party will try to capture power in states where they are not and the outfit was not just different in its principles, but the results of those principles are different as well.
'Today, we're the world's largest party that is in power in India. We have the highest number of MPs and MLAs in the country.
We aren't going to stop at this. There are some states left and we will make sure we reach to them as well,' Mr Nadda said in his address at the felicitation programme at the party headquarters here.
The affirmative assertion can be linked to West Bengal which goes to the polls next year.
Mr Nadda said, 'Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked about the work culture of our party and how we're different. We aren't just different in our principles, but the results of those principles are different as well.'
Earlier in the day, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani exuded confidence that the saffron outfit which had negligible organisational presence, will also have BJP president.
Mr Nadda takes over reins of the party days before Delhi elections where the saffron party is desperate to return to power by breaking 22-year old jinx. In 2020, all eyes will be on assembly elections in Bihar as well.
Next year under Mr Nadda's leadership, BJP will go to polls in Assam, West Bengal, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
BJP is on aggressive campaign in West Bengal which was for long a strong and invincible communist forte. Saffron outfit won 18 Lok Sabha seats from the state in 2019 surprising its foes and friends alike.
Mr Nadda was declared unopposed elected as party's 11th national president.
List of BJP's presidents include Atal Bihari Vajpayee (first after formation of the party in 1980), L K Advani (three terms), Murli Manohor Joshi, Kushabhau Thakre, Bangaru Laxman (first Dalit BJP chief), Jana Krishnamurthi, M Venkaiah Naidu, Rajnath Singh (two terms), Nitin Gadkari and Amit Shah.
