BJP to give ticket to disqualified MLAs in K'taka

Bengaluru, Nov 13(UNI) Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Wednesday welcomed the verdict of the Supreme Court on the disqualification of 17 Karnataka MLAs and said the party would consider giving party tickets to them, to contest the by-elections.

Speaking to the media here, Mr Yediyurappa said the party's core committee would hold a meeting, where the disqualified MLAs would also be invited.

Stating that the court did not endorsed the Speaker's order on barring the resigned MLAs from contesting the elections he said that party's central leaders would decide on finalising tickets to contest in the by elections.

Meanwhile, Opposition leader Siddaramaiah said the Supreme Court had upheld the Speaker's order on disqualification of the MLAs.

"If BJP has any principles, it should not give party tickets to the disqualified MLAs," he said, adding that the apex court had not endorsed the defection of the MLAs and BJP should shun them.
