New Delhi, Dec 15 (UNI) At a time when the Congress is trying to build up a strong narrative on the powers of Public Accounts Committee of Parliament vis-a-vis CAG reports and Rafale aircraft deal, BJP member of Parliament GVL Narasimha Rao has said that he will "explore" criminal probe into motivated propaganda to "endanger" national security.
"As a Member of the Standing Committee on Defence, I will explore a criminal investigation into motivated propaganda to impede and endanger national security," Mr Rao tweeted.
The Rajya Sabha MP maintained that after the Supreme Court verdict on Rafale aircraft deal, "it's time to unravel conspiracy to punish Jaichands (a reference to betrayers) for backstabbing India".
The reference from the BJP leader and spokesman relates to reported argument put forward by the Air Force chief that there has to be "reservation" regarding the disclosure of pricing details "including regarding the weaponry which could adversely affect the national security".
It also relates to a stance by government and its key stakeholders that "our country cannot afford to be unprepared or underprepared" when India's 'adversaries' have acquired 4th Generation and 5th Generation aircraft".
The 31-member Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence is headed by BJP lawmaker in Lok Sabha - Kalraj Mishra.
Among others, it has members such as former Prime Minister H D Devegowda (JD-S), Gaurav Gogoi, Ambika Soni and Madhusudan Mistry - all Congress, Sanjay Raut (Shiv Sena) and
Jayadev Galla (TDP), Murli Manohar Joshi and Shobha Karandlaje besides Mr Rao from the ruling BJP.
