BJP moves ECI against open threat of CPI(M) MP

Agartala, Dec 3 (UNI) BJP Tripura state committee moved Election Commission of India (ECI) seeking action against CPI(M) member of Rajya Sabha Jharna Das Baidya for openly threatening
the opposition supporters in a public meeting at Karbok of Amarpur in Gomati district.
The party has decided to lodge FIR against her for terrorizing the situation to manipulate the elections.
In a public meeting, MP Baidya warned the voters to desert BJP well in advance otherwise, after counting of the vote and before swearing in the new government, CPI(M) will complete its account and said, “The 8th Left Front government is inevitable but the people who are going to BJP would
not be spared and before new government takes over we shall pay back whosoever opposed us.”
Her speech triggered widespread resentment among the cross sections and it has been airing in local television channels and became viral in social media, which virtually embarrassed the ruling party.
She further stated that BJP state president Biplab Kumar Deb would go back to Delhi and party
in-charge Sunil Deodhar will move back to Mumbai but the people who have supporting them here, they will have to remain in the state after election.
“We have allowed our cadres to open mouth against opposition but when we shall open the hands of the cadres, nobody knows what would be the fate of so called BJP leaders and their supporters.
It is still not late, if wants to live with peace desert them and join us,” Baidya told in the gathering, which is now viral.
However, CPI(M) state secretary Bijan Dhar refused to make any comment and said he is not aware of the statement of MP Baidya, as he was not present in the rally. Moreover, the full content
of the text has not been aired so far, only the part where she was seen to threatening; so it is difficult to explain her intension in the speech.
“We don’t endorse such speech from a public figure that to from communist party. I personally, feel if she said so it was unexpected and unbecoming from an MP. However, party has already sought
her clarification on the issue and certainly go for appropriate step,” Dhar said adding that CPI(M) has been facing election with peoples’ agenda not by violence or terror.
On the other, Jharna Das Baidya refused to make any further comment on her speech and controversy.
BJP president Biplab Deb said that they are lodging FIR against her for intimidating the voters and besides, ECI, the matter has already been informed to Ministry of Home Affairs and all others. Not only Jharna Das Baidya, Deputy Speaker Pabitra Kar and few others have also been threatening the voters who opposed them, he stated.
“The Chief Minister Manik Sarkar only two weeks ago urged his partymen from the floor of assembly to stop violence and indulging instigation of violence but it appears that a section of CPI(M) leaders not only cross the boundary of law, also they forget the political decorum and culture because of they understood the poll reality,” Deb underlined.
He said that the statement of Baidya was not only a threat; also the party is executing it at ground level on the opposition supporters. At least one violence is reported every day in the state and so far 16 BJP workers were murdered and 465 were injured in the attacks of CPI(M) in past six months, Deb said adding, “If election happened under this government, there will be massive bloodshed in this time. So we demanded Presidents’ Rule to save the innocent life from the violence.”
