Pune, Jan 17 (UNI) A team of officials from Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Mumbai branch office conducted a raid at M/s Hamleys (M/s Reliance Brands Ltd) shop located at Oberoi Mall in Goregaon (west) area of north Mumbai and confiscated huge quantity of uncertified toys from there.
During the raid on Saturday, it was found that the store was allegedly indulging in sale of electric and non-electric toys, without BIS Standard Mark, in violation of quality control orders on toys issued by Government of India.
Keeping in view the health and safety of children, the Union Ministry of Commerce & Industry has notified that all the toys sold in the country from January 1, 2021, shall mandatorily be certified by BIS for their safety and shall bear mark on them, a press release issued by Press Information Bureau here on Monday said.
