Modi said that he owed a huge debt to Baba Saheb and his Constitution which paved the way for him who belonged to a poor class to get close to the people.
As a mark of respect to Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Modi said his government began to observe Samvidhan Divas (Constitution Day) and programmes were held in schools and the supreme courts.

He said the people would be apprised of the spirit of the constitution, the process of its formation and its importance during the festival throughout the year.
Referring to the emergency period Modi said the constitution was distorted during the emergency period and those who wished to keep the power in their pocket and the family dynasty did not like the constitution as it strengthened the oppressed, Dalits, tribals, and backward.
Reiterating his priorities for developing oppressed sections of society, Modi assured to continue the free ration scheme and construction of pucca houses for the poor.
