Bihar Dy CM 'trapped' in Statue of Unity lift

Bihar Dy CM 'trapped' in Statue of Unity lift

Kevadia, Nov 13 (UNI) Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Sushil Modi today visited the statue of unity at Sadhu bet near Kevadia in Narmada district of Central Gujarat and had to witness a somewhat unpleasant situation as due to sudden 'power-drop' he was sort of 'trapped' inside one of the two lifts, in the 182 meter tall statue, which carry the visitors to the 'observation deck' more popularly known as viewing gallery situated at a height of 153 m near its supposed heart.
When the incident happened Energy minister of Gujarat Saurabh Patel was also present with him in the lift. The power was out for almost a minute and the lift remained stand-still. Later when the power was resumed, it took him to the viewing gallery from where a picturesque scene of the nearby Sardar Sarovar dam and mountain range is witnessed.
The district development officer and some other people were also in the lift. After the incident the officials of SSNNL, who had also drawn flak due to alleged poor arrangements for visitors at the international tourist site, looked embarrassed but avoided answering queries about it.
Later, the Bihar Deputy CM also met some of the local tourists. He told newsmen that the world's largest statue has proved that PM Modi completes whatever he promises. He said that the farmers of Bihar have also contributed their iron equipment for the construction of the statue.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 182 metre statue on October 31.
