Hyderabad, Mar 28 (UNI) Bhatti Vikramarka, the leader of the Telangana Congress Legislative party, cautioned the BRS Government against selling off the Singareni coal mines and other assets.
Bhatti Vikarmarka stated, "In Telangana State, where we claim our crops, woods, and wealth as ours, the plot to privatise the Singareni Collieries is ongoing," adding that Singareni employs over 1.15 lakh people and if Singareni gets privatised, nearly 60,000 jobs would be lost.
He asserted that the Congress party will never consent to the privatisation of Telangana's resources by the BRS or BJP governments. Additionally, he charged Andhra Pradesh corporations of receiving resources for coal mining from Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR).
Bhatti Vikarmarka was addressing a corner meeting at Tandoor of Mancherial district on the 13th day of his People's March 'Haath Se Haath Jodo Yatra' on Tuesday.
Upon entering the Mancherial district, District Congress Committee (DCC) President Kokkarala Surekhamma, other Congress leaders, and a large crowd of supporters greeted him with traditional festivities and folk dances. Former MLC K. Prem Sagar Rao, TPCC Vice President Madan Mohan Rao, and other senior Congress leaders and activists also attended the event.
During his speech, Bhatti Vikramarka committed to spearheading transformative change and progress for the people of Telangana. He acknowledged the state's unfulfilled goals, such as access to water, funds, jobs, and self-respect, and pledged to address these issues if Congress were elected.
Vikramarka criticized KCR for allegedly attaining power through deception and failing to resolve any problems, arguing that only a change in government could bring about the progress the state requires. He claimed that since Telangana's formation, the state had not advanced significantly. As an example, he mentioned the previous Congress government's distribution of 198 houses in Tandoor Mandal, which continue to lack proper development and infrastructure. Furthermore, he pointed out the BRS government's failure to provide a single double-bedroom house.
The CLP leader accused KCR of betraying Dalits by not distributing the promised three acres of land and not delivering on the pledge of one job per household. He questioned the utilization of the Rs 18 lakh crore state budget, including Rs. five lakh crore in bank loans, inquiring if the funds were used to construct homes for the poor, provide jobs, or guarantee water supply.
Vikramarka also expressed concerns about farmers sinking into debt due to the government's inability to waive loans, forcing them to rely on private money lenders.
If Congress comes to power, Bhatti Vikramarka promised to take control of crops, compensate for losses caused by natural disasters, and offer land and financial assistance of Rs. 5 lakhs for constructing homes for the homeless.
Moreover, he pledged that the next Congress government would supply gas cylinders at Rs 500 and ensure that Telangana's wealth is utilized for the benefit of all four crore people in the state.
