BCG assists safe transfer of 516 fishermen to West Bengal

Visakhapatnam, Jul 16 (UNI) Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) in a coordinated operation with Indian Coast Guard (ICG) carried out sea-air coordinated search in their respective waters to locate and escort the stranded fishing boats back to India both through riverine route of Haribanga and across IMBL, Coast Guard said in a statement here on Tuesday.
According to the statement, 114 IFBs were escorted back through the riverine route last week. However, 32 IFBs along with 516 fishermen were stranded in the port of Paira in Bangladesh due to rough sea.
BCG has extended all out support to render assistance in escorting the boats to IMBL and Indian Coast Guard ships Vijaya and Amogh were deployed to effect the safe transfer of 32 IFB along with 516 fishermen to Kakdwip harbour, West Bengal.
