Bangladesh-India joint research will fulfill the development aspirations: Indian Envoy Prannoy Verma

Dhaka, May 30 (UNI) Bangladesh Council of Science and Industrial Research (BCSIR) on Tuesday organized a joint scientific symposium in partnership with Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), India as part of the long-standing collaboration between India and Bangladesh in the field of science and technology.
The theme of the symposium held in the capital was 'Advanced Functional and Smart Materials for Sustainable Development'.
Science and Technology Minister Architect Yafes Osman presided over the program as the chief guest. Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Prannoy Verma was the guest.
Prannoy Verma, in his opening remarks, said that while the entire world is eager to join the ranks
of advanced economies in the context of India and Bangladesh, there is value and necessity in promoting closer engagement in science and technology between India and Bangladesh.
The High Commissioner said, our collaboration can bring solutions that address our social constraints and meet our developmental aspirations to generate ideas that will create a unique perspective as a developing country in scientific research and innovation.
During Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visit to India in September 2022, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between CSIR and BSCIR to enhance inter-sectoral collaboration between scientists as well as institutes and laboratories in India and Bangladesh. According to that agreement, this two-day symposium has been organized with the participation of scientists from India and Bangladesh.
