Ban on internet curbs mass protest in Aurangabad: Police

Aurangabad, Jan 3 (UNI) The decision to abort internet services in the city proved advantageous for police
administration, as the suspension not only stopped the spread of rumours, but also curbed incidents of stone pelting and mass protest, police said.
The acting Police Commissioner-cum-IGP of Aurangabad Range Milind Bharambe had suspended internet services, including 2G, 3G and 4G, in the city from Wednesday midnight, to prevent any disturbance of public order and to the curb spread of rumours, in view of the Koregaon-Bhima incident.
The decision proved helped to arresting spread of rumours in the city. The decision also calmed the situation and helped maintain peace and communal harmony in the city, said police in a statement here.
