Ayushman Bharat, biggest scheme on the world: Rajnath

Lucknow, Sep 23(UNI) Union Home minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday termed the launch of Ayushaman Bharat scheme, world's biggest scheme, as 'the historic day' for the country .

The scheme will benefit over 100 million poor families of the country.

"Barack Obama had launched a similar health scheme in USA while people are saying the scheme as Modi care in India. But to my feeling it should be named as Modi protection for the health of the poor," he said, adding that it will fulfil the dream of New India of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Mr Singh, who was present in Lucknow to launch the scheme in UP along with other leaders claimed that this Ayushman Bharat scheme will act as a s'ankat mochan' for the poor families of the country.

"Now the poor would not have to take loan from sahukars for treating their near and dear ones while it is for the first time that union government was spending such a big amount for the health sector for the first time ," he added.

He said that government wants that people of the country should get affordable health facilities.

"UP government has prepared itself for the successful of the scheme and an expert committee has been set up in all the 75 districts to monitor the scheme," the CM said.

Yogi said that 1350 medical packages have been made for the scheme which will cover almost all the diseases."It is the suggested ever scheme launched in the country," he further added.

In UP around 6 crore people of 1.18 crore families in the state would be covered by the new health insurance where families would get Rs 5 lakh health coverage.

Meanwhile state minister for health Dr Mahendra Singh informed that over 600 hospitals have been registered in the state for this scheme.

"This scheme will benefit the majority of poor of the country as it is the largest scheme of the country ," Dr Singh said.

UP Assembly speaker Hridya Narain Dikshit said that it is the most beneficial scheme of the country.

" the scheme will turn into a big help for the poor families of the country," he added.

Several other state ministers including Brajesh Pathak and Ashutosh Tandon along with Senior BJP leaders were present in the function.
