Perth, Dec 17 (UNI) Australia were bowled out for 243 runs in their second innings, setting a challenging target of 287runs for India on fourth day in the second Test being played here on Monday.
Mohammed Shami bagged six wickets for 56 runs in 24 overs. This is his career best in Test cricket, the figure is also the third best by an Indian Down Under.
Earlier in the day, Tim Paine and Usman Khawaja added 58 runs in first session, helping Australia to get past 200 runs mark.
Mohammed Shami gave India its first break through in the form of Tim paine (37). Paine and Khawaja added 72 crucial runs for the fifth wicket.
On a very next ball, Shami removed Finch (25). Shami struck again, he sent Khawaja to pavilion for 72 runs.
Pat Cummins (1) was bowled by Jasprit Bumrah. In another spell, Shami took Nathan Lyon for 5 runs.
Mitchel Starc was cleaned bowled by Bumrah for 14 runs, bowling Australia out for 243 runs.
Khawaja was the high-scorer from the Aussies with his 72 runs knock.
Australia posted 326 runs in their first innings in reply of India's 283 runs.
