Attempts were made to convince Kia Motors to investment in Maharashtra: Fadnavis

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Apr 22 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has said that attempts were made to convince Kia Motors to invest in Maharashtra but the company was asking for free land and waiver of capital subsidy.
Responding to a question during a press conference on Saturday after 'bhoomipoojan' ceremony of Bikdin section of the Aurangabad Industrial City (AURIC), he said, 'We had made numerous attempts to make KIA Motor to invest in Maharashtra itself, but KIA was asking to provide free land and also to waive off the capital subsidy.'
'We cannot accept such demands. If we had agreed to their demands, other companies might also have asked us for such waivers,' he said.
'Maharashtra already has ample industries ready to invest in the state. On the other hand, Andhra Pradesh offered free land and capital subsidy to KIA motors. Hence it decided to move to AP,' he said.
Speaking about the upcoming investments in Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC), Mr Fadnavis said, 'Hyosung proved to be a great anchor project for DMIC. This attracted attention of global investors, not only from US and UK, but from Korea and Japan. Until now more than 150 Korean and Japanese industries have expressed their readiness to invest in DMIC,' he said.
