Arunachal announces week-long total 'lockdown' in Itanagar capital region

Itanagar, Jul 4 (UNI) In the wake of increasing COVID-19 positive cases in Itanagar capital region, the Arunachal Pradesh government on Saturday announced complete 'lockdown' for one week starting from 1700 hours of July 6.
Addressing a press conference here, his second of the day, Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar said that state Cabinet in its meeting today decided to impose 'lockdown' in the Itanagar capital region from 1700 hours of July 6 till 0500 hours of July 13 .
The CS appealed to people of the capital region to extend their cooperation to the administration during the lockdown period .
He informed about the activities that will be permitted and prohibited in the lockdown.
"We will not allow movement of people to/from this region to other regions (except for emergencies with the prior approval of DC)," Kumar told reporters here.
The CS said that all government offices within capital region shall remain close except Raj Bhavan, State Secretariat & Directorate-CMO, CS Office, Home, Police HQ, Health, Disaster Management, PWD-Road & Highways, Power, District Administration of ICC-DC Office, Police, Courts, Fire and Emergency services, Disaster Management and Prisons, Electricity, Water and Sanitation.
"Officials belonging to exempted offices shall be allowed to travel in their own vehicle and Government vehicles with a valid ID card," he said.
