Army again foils infiltration bid in Kashmir, 1 militant killed

Srinagar, Sept 26 (UNI) One militant was killed when alert troops foiled yet another infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector in north Kashmir district of Baramulla. Defence Ministry spokesperson Colonel Rajesh Kalia told UNI that troops noticed a militant sneaking into this side of border from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) at general area Zorawar in Uri sector. However, when challenged and asked to surrender, the militant opened indiscriminate firing with automatic weapons. The security force retaliated ensuing in an encounter, he said, adding the militant was killed in the encounter. He said the operation was still going on and additional security forces have been rushed to sanitize the area. UNI ABS AE 1121
