APCC demands inquiry with HC Judge on tantrik rituals in Durga temple

Vijayawada Jan 5 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President N Raghuveera Reddy demanded that an inquiry by a High Court Judge be conducted on the tantrik rituals which were allegedly performed in the famous Kanaka temple, atop the Indrakeeladri hill here.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, the APCC president said that they have no confidence on the inquiry, being conducted by a committee, constituted by the government. “Performing of the alleged tantrik rituals in the famous Durga temple should be probed by a High Court Judge. The tantric rituals could not be performed in the Kanaka Durga temple, located in the heart of the city, without the support of some people in the government” he alleged.
The crown and other jewellery of goddess Durga were stolen about 20 years ago during the TDP government. The then officials adorned the deity with a fake crown, hurting the sentiments of the crores of devotees, the Congress leader reminded.
