AP boat tragedy toll rose to 37, still 15 missing

Kakinada, Sep 21(UNI) The death toll in the Royal Vasista Boat tragedy at Kachhuluru in river Godavari rose to 37 with one more body of a five year old girl retrieved at the capsize site on Saturday, police said.
The intensive search operations for tracing the missing bodies continued till evening.
More bodies were feared trapped in the ill fated boat that rested on the river bed at a depth of nearly 300 feet. Entire area at the place of boat capsise was stinking and emitting foul smell giving the idea that the bodies were trapped under the debris of the ill fated boat.
All the efforts of the experts enlisting the support of Kakinada fishermen who have the expertise in deep sea boat salvaging operations proved futile due to formation of dangerous whirl pools and strong under currents making it impossible for the divers to carry out the search operations.
Official sources said that the rescue operations would be resumed tomorrow and would be continued till the last body was traced.
