New Delhi, Dec 4 (UNI) Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Anil Baijal on Tuesday inaugurated the ‘Centre for Technology and Policing, an initiative by Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) , Delhi aimed to strengthen Delhi Police with cutting-edge technology in the field of crime prevention and control.
The centre will assist the concerned department in criminal’s identification, law and order management, cyber policing, traffic management, and combating terrorist activities using Artificial Intelligence (AI), social media analysis, biometrics, image processing, big data, and network forensics, which would improve policing in the capital.
Congratulating the institute on the initiative, Delhi Lieutenant Governor said, “The opening of this unique research centre will definitely improve the ability to control the criminal activities. I am pleased to know that the centre shall also train police personnel with up-to-date knowledge and the latest tools.”
Elaborating on the centre, IIIT Director Ranjan Bose said, “Criminals have become more tech-savvy now, which poses a huge challenge for our cops, but the proper usage of cutting-edge technology and training will help our Police department a great deal in maintaining the law and order.”
“The centre would help Delhi Police in safeguarding the lives of citizens, and public as well as private infrastructure using smart technologies,” the director added.
