Amma is with victim, Dileep not yet returned to association: Mohanlal

Kochi, Jul 9 (UNI) Reiterating that Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) is always with the victim, a female member of the association, who was allegedly kidnapped and sexually harassed, leading actor and AMMA President Mohanlal today made it clear that the Association had not yet revoked their decision to oust actor Dileep from the organisation.
Addressing the media in the wake of the recent controversy that AMMA taken back Dileep to the association and the subsequent resignation of few actress and members of the association, though the role of Dileep was not proved and not known the truth, Mohan Lal said he will remain outside the Association till is innocence is proved in the alleged sexual assault and kidnapping of a woman actor in which he is an accused.
Refuting the charges of certain female members of AMMA and Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) that they were not asked about revoking the ban of Dileep, Mr Lal ‘’affirmed’’ that despite there were large number of women members in the meeting, including WCC members and none of them had opposed and the decision was unanimous.
‘’If they want they could have express their views, if they had anything on the issue. Since AMMA is working with utmost transparent, they could have come and expressed their difference in this regard,’’ he said adding that if they had any difference opinion the AMMA was ready to have dialogues with them.
‘’We have received a letter from WCC citing two or three issues and we had asked them to add more demands, if they have anything, which will be discussed in the next executive meeting of AMMA and will let them know the outcome,’’ he added.
Asked about whether the victims had made any complaint to AMMA against the actor, the AMMA President said that there was not even a single letter received to the Association in writing so far.
It was a shocking and the AMMA was in total dilemma when heard about the incident. As the association were not in a position to take a decision, with the available members, the association had took a decision to oust Mr Dileep immediately.
However, legally as per the bylaw of the association it was not validate to oust the actor from the association.
However, the actor informed that he was not in a position to return back to the association immediately, he said adding that since he was not willing to come back, technically he was still out of the organisation.
Mr Lal indicated that the association was planning to modify the 25-year-old bylaw with certain amendments, including giving more representation to women actress in the organisation.
