Amitabh Kant appointed CEO of NITI Aayog

New Delhi, Dec 29 (UNI) The Government today appointed senior IAS officer, Amitabh Kant as CEO of NITI Aayog. Mr Kant, a 1980 batch IAS officer of Kerela cadre, and at present the Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry will hold the additional charge in place of Sindhushree Khullar, whose tenure ends on December, 31. According to an official statement of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), Mr Kant will be the CEO of the planning body till the appointment of a regular incumbent or till further orders. The Government also made several other secretary-level appointments. Sanjay Mitra was appointed as Secretary in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in place of Vijay Chhibber who is superannuating on December 31. Neeraj Kumar Gupta has been appointed as Secretary, Department of Disinvestment, Ministry of Finance. He replaces Aradhana Johri. The Government appointed Aradhana Johri as Chairperson, National Authority for Chemical Weapons Convention. Rashmi Verma has been made Secretary in the Ministry of Textiles in place of Sanjay Kumar Panda, who is retiring on December, 31. The release also stated that Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, who is Secretary (Coordination), Cabinet Secretariat will continue to hold the additional charge of Secretary (Security), Cabinet Secretariat till the appointment of a regular incumbent or till further orders.
