New Delhi, Mar 11 (UNI) A Delhi court on Monday sought reply from the Tihar Jail authorities by Tuesday on the alleged mental torture of Christian Michel, the British businessman and alleged middleman in the AgustaWestland case.
The court gave this direction after hearing the plea of the Directorate of Enforcement regarding questions from Christian Michel.
In this matter, CBI alleged that Michel had entered into about 12 contracts with AgustaWestland to legitimise the illicit commission/ kickbacks of Euro 42.27 million received on procurement of VVIP helicopters by Government of India.
After CBI, the Directorate of Enforcement also initiated proceedings against Michel under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002.
Michel was first-time produced before CBI court on December 5 after extradited to India from Dubai and now he is in judicial custody till February 26.
Counsel for Michael alleged Michel is getting mental torture inside the jail.
Special Judge Arvind Kumar sought reply from Tihar Jail Authorities regarding questions from Christian Michel inside the jail and further issued production warrants against Michel when his counsel alleged that Michel faced mental torture inside the jail.
