New Delhi, Nov 13 (UNI) Stating that agriculture is the utmost priority of the government, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said the new laws will ensure price of choice for their produce, open venues of new markets and give them freedom of selling their produce, wherever they want.
A long session of talks took place between the farmer organisations and the government regarding the problems faced by them and the agriculture reform laws, wherein the government assured that MSP will continue and the Mandi system will also keep going on.
Total 10,000 FPOs will open in the country to increase farmer income and every possible help will be extended to the farmers, he assured.
The Union Minister said the government is continuously increasing the value of MSP and the crop procurement centres are also being increased.
Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal, Minister of State in the Ministry of Commerce and Industries Som Prakash and representative leaders of Punjab Farmer organisations took part in the meeting.
As per the Agriculture Ministry sources, the meeting began around 1100 hrs and went on till 1700 hrs, but no final decision was taken.
Meanwhile, the farmers of Punjab are agitating since long against the new farmer laws.
