Shillong, Oct 31 (UNI) Active COVID-19 positive cases have declined in Meghalaya over the past one week with the number dropping down to 1,019 with 70 new cases and one more death due to the infection registered on Saturday, even as 220 more recoveries took the number of recovered persons so far to 8,345.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War informed that an 83 years old man, who had tested positive for COVID-19 and had been suffering from other ailments, passed away at a private hospital in the city, taking the death count due to the viral infection to 88 in the State.
Of the fresh cases detected, the senior medical official said 22 were from East Khasi Hills district, 17 from Ri-Bhoi district, 16 from West Garo Hills district, five from East Garo Hills district, four each from North Garo Hills district and West Jaintia Hills district and one each from South Garo Hills district and South West Khasi Hills district.
