Agartala, Dec 16 (UNI) The assistant high commissioner of Bangladesh in Tripura celebrated his country's 49th Vijay Diwas or Victory Day this morning with multiple programmes, which began with hoisting the national flag of Bangladesh and paying tribute to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahaman.
To mark India’s decisive military victory over Pakistan that led to the creation of Bangladesh as an independent nation in 1971, Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh Kiriti Chakma offered floral tribute to the heroes of Bangladesh Liberation War at the Martyr’s Column here.
The historians will have discussion on Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971 and India’s, more specifically Tripura’s, contribution to the liberation in the afternoon followed by a cultural programme in the evening where Bangladesh liberation war heroes will share their experience and speak.
