40.92 percent polling till 3 PM in Bihar

Patna, Apr 19 (UNI) An estimated 40.92 percent of 76,01,629 electorate have exercised their franchise till 3 PM in four constituencies for the first phase of Lok Sabha election in Bihar.
According to sources of the office of Chief Electoral Officer of Bihar, the highest 44.46 percent polling was registered in Jamui Lok Sabha seat while 42.20 percent polling was recorded in
Aurangabad seat.
Gaya Lok Sabha seat witnessed 39.35 percent voting followed by 37.77 percent polling in Nawada seat.
Polling is expected to increase in last hours of the voting when people will face some relief from the scorching heat. In Naxal affected areas in all the four constituencies the polling will continue till 4 PM. A large number of people were seen waiting for their turn in long queues to cast their votes.
Areas not affected by menace of naxalism or any other sort of disturbance, will witness polling till 6 PM.
As per reports received here, no major incident has been reported from any part of all the four constituencies where polling is in progress. At booth number 240 in Lakshua school of Sikandra assembly segment of Jamui Lok Sabha seat, a policeman B N Rai misbehaved with a Journalist of a news channel while he was covering the polling process.
District Magistrate of Jamui has directed SP to investigate the incident and action would be taken on the basis of its report.
Meanwhile, Chief Electoral Officer H R Srinivasan said all arrangements had been made for peaceful and hassle free polling. People should come out of their houses to cast their votes in remaining period of the polling till 6 PM, he said adding that at last polling percentage could cross the last elections mark.
