3 JeM militants killed in encounter, firing stopped in south Kashmir

Srinagar, Jun 19 (UNI) All three Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militants, trapped inside a house, were killed and a CRPF jawan was injured in an encounter at Tral in Pulwama district on Tuesday evening.
This was the first Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) launched by security forces in Tral after centre withdrew unilateral ceasefire against militants in the state.
Director General of Police (DGP) S P Vaid said the firing has stopped and all the holdup militants have been neutralised. “Two bodies have been recovered while the body of the third militant is being searched. Good job Army, CRPF and J&K Police,” he wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.
Official sources told UNI that following specific information about presence of militants at village Hayuna in Tral, a joint CASO was launched by Special Operations Group (SOG) of state police, Army and CRPF on Tuesday evening.
However, they said when security forces were moving towards a particular area, militants hiding there, fired at them with automatic weapons.
The security forces retaliated, ensuing in an encounter, they said, adding in the initial exchange of fire, a CRPF jawan was injured. “The injured was immediately taken to a hospital,” they said.
They said all the militants, trapped inside the house, have been killed in the encounter, adding the firing has stopped.
The search operation was still going on when the reports last came in, they added.
