24 lorry drivers remanded to judicial custody till Nov 10 for dumping waste

Coimbatore, Oct 27(UNI) Seventh Judicial Magistrate Court Judge Pandi today remanded 24 lorry drivers, who brought medical and plastic wastes from Kerala to dump on a private land near Ettimadai outskirts of the city, to judicial custody till November 10.
Sources said all the 24 lorries -- 19 registered in Kerala and five in Tamil Nadu -- loaded with medical and plastic wastes from Kerala came to the Ettimadai to dump the waste on a private land. The lorries were hired by a person based in Kerala. People living in the area, seized the lorry and handed over to Police on Tuesday.
Police arrested all the 24 people -- Nawas (27) , Majeeth (40), sowkath Ali (25), Ajmalhon (29), , Sivarajan (36), Akilesh (33), Srishoe 36), , K Muthu (48),Harish (42), Ajmal (28), Mohmmed (33)V Rajendran (42), Sokkalingam (42) ,Jeseem (25), Manoj (36), Ranjith (25), Sudhir (32), Jeyaprakash (52), Kunjali (49), Kunju Mohammed (58), Saravanan (37), Vijayan (27), ,Biji (33) and Mohammed Ilyas (50) and produced before the court.
