17 hurt as building crashes in Kerala

Kozhikode, Jan 18 (UNI) As many as 17 construction workers including a woman were injured, three of them seriously, when an under-construction multi-storey building collapsed at Kaithapoyil near Thamarassery in this Kerala district on Tuesday.
According to the police, the incident took place when around 50 workers, mostly migrants, were engaged in laying concrete in the building of Markaz Knowledge City, an educational institution owned by the Kanthapuram Aboobacker's Markaz trust.
Some support poles fixed to the concrete structure slipped, resulting in the collapse of the second floor, police sources said.
