11 file nominations, campaign on in Meghalaya

Shillong, Mar 27 (UNI) Altogether, 11 candidates, including two sitting MPs, have filed their nomination papers for the Lok Sabha elections in Meghalaya, which will go to the polls on April 19 to elect Lok Sabha representatives from the Shillong and Tura parliamentary constituencies.
The filing of nominations for the two Lok Sabha seats, Shillong and Tura, in this hilly state ended on Wednesday, even as campaigning has been picking up.
Ten candidates have filed their nomination papers to contest for the Shillong seat, including former Union minister and sitting MP Vincent H. Pala of the Congress, who is seeking re-election for the fourth time.

At least 650 houses damaged by hailstorm so far

Aizawl, Apr 28(UNI) At least 650 homes including 51 houses in Tualpui and Vanka villages of northeastern Khawza distrrict have been ravaged by rain accompanied by massive hailstorm and gusty wind in Mizora on Saturday morning
Sources said 24 houses houses have been destroyed in Tualpui and 27 houses damaged in Vankal village when a heavy hailstorm hit the two villages at around 2 AM on Saturday morning.
